ROBO-01 is a futuristic crossover with talking lights

The Jidu Robo-01 shows its futuristic appeal quite vividly to the eyes. This crossover has a sleek and sporty design with a strong emphasis on aerodynamics. The design is slick, but there’s a level of sharpness that highlights each of its creases. The LED lighting set is strong and smart here. The front fascia features sleek dual-LED headlight pots with AI-induced pixel DRLs that push up and down.

These light pixels along with the light bar help the robocar visually communicate with a person. The lightbar works somewhat like an audio visualizer like the one seen when you activate Siri or Google Assistant on a smartphone. Bright pixels are used for a plethora of functions such as charging indicators and even displaying responses to commands, including “thumbs up!”.

Enhancing its aero appeal are black aero-shield wheels and a retractable center spoiler at the rear. The rear LED lighting also gets the pixel treatment but isn’t as vocal as the front setup. While everything is so futuristic and digital, Jidu decided to go easy on the color options with only three on the table – Star Porcelain White, Nebula Gray and Galaxy Purple.

Entering and exiting the Robo-01 is quite lavish, thanks to the fusion of front scissor doors and rear suicide doors. The lack of a B-pillar makes getting in and out of this robocar an easy affair. The dash is technically a huge curved screen that houses the instrument cluster, infotainment setup, and all of the car’s other functions, including climate control and exterior feature controls. Each end of the screen doubles as rear view cameras. It gets a yoke-like steering wheel that can fold up completely in stand-alone mode.

The brains behind all the computing power that puts things together is backed by DuerOS artificial intelligence software which features an adaptive learning algorithm. The physical brain includes a NIVIDIA Orin X chip and a Qualcomm 8295 processor. Both rows get a center console with touch-sensitive surfaces, most likely with window and seat controls.

JIDU ROBO-01 cleverly hides its autonomous technology

Autonomous technology is the inevitable future of electric vehicles and the Jidu Robo-01 contains the most sophisticated technology of all. Housed in the former home of the Coventry Evening Telegraph, a space that once housed the rolls of paper on which our stories were printed, is now the incredible art space showcasing works by world renowned artists. Inaugurated in May, the digital art space has attracted visitors from all over the country.

I decided to book a tour to see exactly what the attraction has to offer and why it is so popular. When I arrived I waited in a small line of people before being asked if I wanted to leave my purse in the lockers. Staff then directed groups of visitors to the room where the art installation is installed.

Once inside, I noticed that the room was packed with people, despite the place having only opened a few minutes before. Most were comfortably seated on the floor in order to fully enjoy the experience. Everyone seemed extremely relaxed and the atmosphere was soothing, making it the perfect destination for families.

If you were to go to the art space right now, you’d see an exhibit called “Machine Memoirs: Space” by internationally acclaimed artist Refik Anadol. I must say his works were truly mesmerizing with bursts of color filling the room and relaxing music to accompany.

“Machine Memoirs: Space” provided a 360-degree cinematic experience of futuristic visuals accompanied by 3D sound that allowed everyone to enjoy the beauty and spectacle of space science, created entirely by AI (artificial intelligence ). Speaking about his exhibit, Refik said, “It invites us to dream of an alternate universe where machines collaborate with humans to speculate on our existence and create an alternate future.”

His work is the result of a long-standing collaboration with NASA. AI has been used to reimagine two million images of space taken by NASA satellites and telescopes and the International Space Station, capturing the deepest regions of outer space. Using machine learning, the computer sorts and categorizes these photographs and creates stunning new digital interpretations of space.

After sitting in the first room for about half an hour, I then went to the next part of the exhibit called “The Tides Within Us” where I saw abstract artwork with a backstory fascinating. Several screens depicted the flow of oxygen through the cardiovascular system, which painted a picture of the human body as fluid.

Admittedly, I found this part of the exhibition a little less interesting than Refik Anadol’s work, however, it was still impressive. So I strongly recommend you to go and see the art exhibition located in the heart of the city.

Saudi Arabia – Enowa, the energy, water and hydrogen subsidiary of Neom, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Japanese trading company Itochu and the French specialist in water, waste and energy management solutions. Veolia Energy for a joint collaboration to develop a first-of-its-kind selective desalination plant powered by 100% renewable energy within the cutting-edge manufacturing and innovation city of Neom – Oxagon.

Scheduled to produce its first water in 2024, the new facility will be key to realizing Enowa’s ambitions to create a sustainable and abundant water supply for residential, industrial and commercial use, a statement from Neom said.

In line with Neom’s commitment to developing a circular economy, the new state-of-the-art plant will use advanced membrane technology to produce separate brine streams.

This allows Enowa to produce brine-derived products, which will be further developed and monetized downstream. The brine, which is generally considered a waste product from desalination, will be used to produce significant quantities of valuable industrial materials that can be used locally or exported internationally, he said.

Commenting on the agreement, Enowa CEO Peter Terium said: “Partnering with world leaders in sustainable water solutions is key to Neom’s ambition to become a global benchmark for water systems. built-in durable water heaters. This allows the brine to be classified as a product rather than a waste, thus minimizing the environmental impact of the plant and redefining the entire business model of desalination plants of the future. The brine generated by the desalination plant will be processed by Enowa to supply industries using raw materials of high purity industrial salt, bromine, boron, potassium, gypsum, magnesium and rare metals.

Kenji Otsuka, CEO of Middle East Bloc of Itochu, said he was delighted with the company’s collaboration with Enowa and Veolia to develop this landmark desalination plant in Neom that advances the concept of Zero Liquid Discharge.

“With our global experience, Itochu will strengthen our contribution to a sustainable lifestyle in line with the kingdom’s and Neom’s goal of creating a low-carbon, recycling-oriented and innovative society,” he noted.

Welcoming the key initiative, Pascal Grante, CEO of Veolia in the Near and Middle East, said that this project is part of the circular economy model that Veolia aims to deploy in all its projects around the world.

“This MoU supports Enowa’s ambition to develop advanced green desalination systems and create future water solutions to address global water scarcity. The Enowa team is changing the future of water supply with pioneering desalination systems and technologies,” he noted.
