MetaBlox announces its participation in Wireless

Panama City, Panama, Aug. 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recently, MetaBlox announced that it has joined the world’s largest open roaming network alliances, Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), to better distribute hardware and WiFi services to all over the world.

As predicted with WBA, by the end of 2023 there should be 2.5 million open MetaBlox roaming nodes, serving over 25 million users.

Seamless Wi-Fi Roaming
Above all, users of the MetaBlox network benefit from free Wi-Fi roaming services. Using the MetaBlox app, users generate a certificate that allows them to roam freely between MetaBlox Wi-Fi networks as well as other networks built by traditional Web2 Wi-Fi carriers. Wi-Fi hotspots can include cafes, restaurants, event venues, cities, and even work or personal hotspots. The decentralized authentication process based on Decentralized ID (DID) and Verifiable Credentials (VC) technologies is the secret sauce.

User-centric Web3 infrastructure

MetaBlox is a global decentralized wireless access network. It not only provides users with the basic data roaming service, but also securely connects their information, data, assets, and applications across different blockchains. It aims to build a decentralized, private, mainchain-agnostic and user-centric Web 3 infrastructure.

The idea that users can determine what and how their personal information is shared sounded like science fiction only a few years ago with conventional Web 2 infrastructure. Web2 is centralized in nature, as its platforms collect and own customer information and data, and focus on profit rather than trust. This leads to consequences for users such as: data breaches, phishing emails and targeted advertising. However, by capitalizing on the advantages of DID and VC technologies, MetaBlox makes the fiction of a user-centric infrastructure a reality and gives users back the power to manage personal information and privacy, which also raises the question : what is DID and VC?

DIDs and CVs

There’s a hilarious quote on the internet that says: On the internet, no one knows you’re a dog. The cartoon offers another perspective on the relevance of personal information and privacy for internet users. Unfortunately, in the traditional Web2 world, all user information is controlled by the platform or companies, and users never own their accounts in a literal sense. DID and VC technologies are perfectly suited to implementing the user-centric idea of Web3: allowing users to regain possession of their personal information and data; data that originally belonged to them.

DID (Decentralized Identifier) is a new type of identifier that enables verifiable and decentralized digital identity. A DID can refer to any subject (eg data model, thing, organization), chosen by its controller. In the case of MetaBlox, users could choose any subject as DID, managing them in the application. And with the help of VC, users could also decide what personal information is shared and how, depending on different circumstances.

The combination of DID and VC strongly secures user privacy. Meanwhile, MetaBlox is a committed participant and advocate of the W3C DID Core, known as the W3C Recommendation released on July 19. 2022. More than that, MetaBlox is also the first public chain implementation of the Linux Foundation Trust Over IP stack.

Final Thoughts:
Without a doubt, the internet has reshaped the way we live our lives. From having information about the world at our fingertips, to social media, to shopping online, just about everything we do has been affected by the internet. But this increased convenience also comes at a cost. Our private information is now susceptible to compromise by criminals and malicious actors around the world. Large multinational corporations control and exploit the flow of information for their own gain. We live with this steep trade-off between privacy and convenience because of the benefits. This is where Web3 and MetaBlox come into play.

MetaBlox creates a user-centric experience at the convergence of Web3, Metaverse, 5G deployment and DID. It builds a network by users and for users – free, secure and controlled by the user. The end user defines what they want to share and how to share it. Metablox empowers users and inspires the entire ecosystem to create a more valuable, privacy-focused experience for everyone.
