New ‘Celeritas’ Sci-Fi Series Raises Bar for High-Level Immersive Podcasts | State

AUSTIN, Texas, October 13, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The age of the first narrative podcast has arrived. For years podcasts were mostly fiction, a universe of interviews, opinions, research and news. But in a revival of the radio drama, the escape is again at the rendezvous.

Celeritas, Magnesium Film’s new sci-fi / action / mystery podcast premiering today on Spotify, Apple and all other platforms has the kind of gripping story, complex world-building, complicated characters, and immersive effects normally only seen in TV and movies.

Strap in on a roller coaster of man-made black holes, asteroid fields, the demise of humanity, and the visceral horror of being buried in deep space.

At first glance, it’s the story of the first manned flight at the speed of light gone horribly wrong, and an astronaut’s desperate attempt to stay alive in a ruthless solar system long enough to figure out what is. happened to mankind. But among the great settings is a meditative study of isolation.

The astronaut, captain Owen Keating (Alexandre adell), is thrown into an artificial black hole at the behest of his billionaire employer (Erika Alpérin), and when he regains consciousness he’s farther from Earth than any person or satellite has ever been. It is also infinitely far in the future. Deeply desperate, there is a purity in absolute solitude; the appendix-1-narcotic version of a feeling we’ve all become too familiar with, trapped in our homes, masks attached to our faces, fading memories of the bustling society we grew up in.

There is something gratifying about it, underscored by the transcendent music of flagship ambient groups like Eluvium, Stars of the Lid, and A Winged Victory For The Sullen. Just before the onslaught of space-time melts faces, alarms crashing or fuel tanks exploding get too intense, everything stops, haunting tones swell and it’s all there is for a while. Float alone, as in a sensory deprivation pool, an airlock or quarantine.

At the start of Episode 1, after barely surviving an engine fire, Captain Keating is forced to attend a company PR event. When asked if the ordeal had scared him, he replied, “Sometimes fear is just the way your body is telling you to be very careful, because you are about to do something.” something new. Listen to Celeritas, it’s more familiar than you might think.

Celeritas Episode 1 premieres today on Spotify, Apple and all other platforms.
