Page-turner of a book sale that is coming to an end at the library

WESTPORT — The Westport Library Autumn Book Salewith thousands of books, from paperbacks to rare and vintage collectible texts, as well as CDs and DVDs, has its last day on Monday.

The sale started on Friday at the library, 20 Jesup Road.

On Mondays, it runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees can fill a library “logo bag” for $8, an equally sized personal bag for $5, or purchase individual books for half price.

Highlights of the book sale, as shown in the library’s advertisement for the event, include:

  • A new “Fiction for $1 Room”, offering hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction and fantasy, young adult fiction, and paperbacks for $1 each.
  • “Signed” gold stickers on texts signed by the authors, including a first edition of “You’re Only Old Once”, inscribed and signed by Dr. Seuss.
  • A collection of holiday-themed books.
  • A wide range of CDs and DVDs.
  • A large selection of cookbooks.
  • Sets of vintage books in leather bindings, plus antiquarian volumes and a large collection of American and world history books.
  • Books donated from the personal library of Westport resident Joseph Califano, former United States Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare in the Carter administration.
