These are among the ideas of possible products and services that the Japanese group Sony Group Corp. designed based on sci-fi stories created through collaboration between sci-fi writers and young in-house designers.

Such stories offer insight into envisioned futures with the bold imaginations of the authors, and details included in imagined futures are used to develop products and services. This method is called science fiction prototyping.

As the COVID-19 pandemic has featured scenes like those in sci-fi movies, such as cities strangely empty due to lockdowns, Japanese companies including Sony are starting to explore unconventional ways to find new ones. ideas.

Sony has put together products and services that appear in stories developed during workshops between writers and designers with “2050”, “Tokyo” and “romance” designated as keywords for the general theme.
